What is borosilicate glass?
Borosilicate glass is a type of glass that contains boron trioxide which allows for a very low coefficient of thermal expansion. This means it will not crack under extreme temperature changes, like brewing with hot water. Borosilicate is the preferred glass for use in medical, and scientific applications.
Where is Pure Over manufactured?
While we design all of our products in our Portland glass studio, we rely on our manufacturing partners in China to create a consistent quality product at scale.
Is Pure Over dishwasher safe?
Yes. Both the glass Pure Over coffee maker and the ceramic base can go in the dishwasher.
What is cake filtration?
Cake filtration is a process in which the ground coffee acts as a filter itself. Along with the glass filter, this makes for a bold, full bodied cup of coffee.
Do coffee grounds fall through the filter?
Much like a French Press, the process will bring some sediment into the cup. Preserving the natural oils and fines helps achieve a bold flavor, and a smooth mouthfeel. To achieve a cleaner, brighter cup, grind your beans more coarsely. Your grind size will let you dial in the exact cup of coffee you like!
Do coffee grounds get stuck in the filter?
The filter was designed for easy cleaning. After the brew, coffee grounds are easily washed out in the sink. If any grounds are left in the filter hole, a quick nudge or toothpick can easily remove them.
What is the carafe’s capacity?
The Signature Carafe has markers for 12oz and 20 oz, and can hold up to 26oz.
Does sediment fall into my coffee cup?
Much like a French Press, some sediment will get through the filter. The microfines and oils that are allowed through play a big part in delivering a flavorful cup with a smooth mouthfeel. However, by brewing into a carafe, you have more control of the pour. For less sediment, pour all but the last ounce or two into your mug. This will allow the sediment to remain within the Carafe
